OVERVIEW
393 Macaulay Road project consists of 8 levels, 73 apartments “Rent to Own” development for Assemble Communities in the Melbourne suburb of Kensington.
Mainland was engaged by the Descon Group to demolish and remove the existing warehouse on site and retain its heritage façade by the construction of an internal steel framework. Mainland Civil also undertook the bulk and detail excavation which included the removal of 5500m3 of material.
The site provided various challenges including excavation and sequencing around façade supports and an underlying layer of contaminated material. Mainland Civil was able to separate the contaminated material and stockpile for later reuse, saving significant disposal costs.
