OVERVIEW
This prestigious development in Double Bay required innovative engineering and environmental management to overcome difficult topography without disturbance to adjacent residential properties.
Steep sandy slopes overlaying sandstone bedrock called for 3,800m2 of bored pier and shotcrete shoring to facilitate the excavation for design depth.
Significant savings were made by converting a large portion of the shoring to sheet piling. This alternative design also overcame problems associated with the very steep topography allowing access for smaller, though specialised pitching and driving rigs.
