Mainland Civil’s scope of works included:
• 27,000m3 sandstone excavation
• Temporary and permanent shoring
• Detailed excavation and foundations
This 23m deep excavation in extremely hard sandstone required the design and construction of specialist loading platforms to facilitate removal of excavated materials. The narrow confines of the site (33m x 32m) and its location on one of North Sydney’s busiest commercial streets required a methodology that satisfied the local Council’s strict traffic management and vibration criteria.
