OVERVIEW
The Walsh Bay redevelopment is one of the most important urban renewal developments in Sydney. Civil works adjacent to and below the harbour water level presented a challenging site. The existing façade and other heritage structures required major underpinning both prior to and during major excavation works.
The scope of work for Mainland Civil included excavation, removal and disposal of 30,000t of contaminated waste, structural underpinning of heritage façade and the installation of over 200 bored piers below the water level and within the existing façade.
