OVERVIEW
The excavation of over 68,000m3 of rock & fill across a 7000m2 site reaching three basements deep was required to facilitate the construction of a 45 storey high rise in the heart of Brisbane adjacent to the Brisbane river.
Over 18,000m3 of contaminated material was removed to decontaminate the site. The site is located in a highly sensitive heritage area with ruins of buildings discovered dating back to 1850, the excavation was carried out under the supervision of archaeologists to ensure the history of the site was recorded.
1 William Street transforms and revitalizes the parliamentary end of George and William Streets, Brisbane. The development of the new 1 William Street commercial office tower is the catalyst for the entire George Street government precinct to be redeveloped.
The office tower occupies a highly prominent location in Brisbane, comprising of a 43 level A Grade commercial building with Premium services, providing approximately 75,000sqm (NLA), including 1,100sqm of retail and 318 car spaces. It is the new home of the Queensland Government and public service.
